Political Editor/Political Operative at the same time

When the lines between being a top political editor and allegiances to a political party are blurred all consumers of 'news' lose. News rooms are not to become the mouthpieces of either political party in a free society. A 'free press' is the backbone of any functional democracy. It is a truth so fundamental it's captured in the First Amendment.
